General information

The dictionary is the centralized repository of information relating to company data. In other words, it is the set of properties and groups of properties that can be used in objects and projects. This dictionary is made up of product properties (thermal efficiency, color, power, etc.) used by the company's various entities.

The dictionary is made up of several concepts

• Properties, a property is a characteristic, aspect or quality of an object that can be observed, measured or evaluated, often used to describe that object in a standardized way.
• Sets, a group of properties that can be created to facilitate their integration.
• Classifications, a hierarchical system of classes that can themselves contain sets and properties for each class.

Below is a description of the notion of property, together with the Revit definition.

Dictionary inheritance

Child spaces created from the central space inherit his dictionary by default. Properties belonging to it cannot therefore be deleted from the child space. Furthermore, the general definition cannot be modified; only Revit definitions can be modified to adapt to the project.

The same applies to sets and classifications from the central space. These can be used but are read-only; no modifications are possible to it in a child space.
